Jade Nosara Renewed: A New Chapter Rooted in Nature, Art & Adventure
Fourteen years after Jade Nosara first opened its doors, we are entering an exciting new chapter.
What began as a vision for an intimate retreat surrounded by nature has continued to evolve with Nosara itself. This season we have renewed the bungalows, gardens and gathering spaces, while staying true to the philosophy that has guided us from the beginning: thoughtful design, connection to nature, local creativity and experiences that leave you feeling restored and inspired.

Located steps away from Playa Guiones in Nosara, Costa Rica, Jade is more than a place to stay. It is a starting point for experiencing the very best of Nosara—surfing, yoga, pilates, tennis, wellness, art, adventure and the extraordinary natural beauty of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula. Jade Nosara is made for gathering— retreats, multigenerational family escapes, and milestone moments that bring the people together in an unforgettable setting.
The main bungalows are being refreshed with a lighter, more natural sensibility, while our tropical gardens are being renewed to create an even stronger relationship between indoor and outdoor living.
The original vision of architect Donal Loria Prendas was to create architecture that works with the landscape. Fourteen years later, the gardens have grown around that architecture, creating the lush sanctuary our guests know today. As we renovate, we are preserving that sense of discovery—paths through tropical foliage, intimate places to gather, art hidden among the gardens and quiet corners to read, reflect or simply listen to the jungle.
Art Is Part of the Jade Experience
Nosara may be internationally known for surfing and yoga, but an extraordinary creative community is also taking shape here. At Jade, art has always been part of the experience rather than decoration.
Our gardens feature work by Costa Rican and international artists, including sculptor Ángel Lara Vargas, Manuel Castro, multidisciplinary artist Matt Kwest, Gibbs Ulloa and Max Vi. Through our Artist in Residence program, creative retreats and collaborations with local artists, we hope to introduce guests to another side of Nosara.
For artists, writers, photographers, designers and other creative thinkers, Jade also offers the opportunity to create a custom creative retreat in Costa Rica—combining focused creative time with movement, nature and community.
Nosara International Film Festival 2027
That creative energy will be especially exciting in spring 2027, when the Nosara International Film Festival takes place April 27–May 1, 2027. The festival's published dates make this an ideal time for filmmakers, artists, storytellers and culturally curious travelers to experience Nosara. Jade offers an intimate home base for festival guests who want to combine film and culture with mornings in the ocean, movement, wellness and time to reconnect.
Wellness, the Nosara Way
Wellness at Jade isn't about following a rigid schedule. It is about creating a week around what you need. Begin with sunrise yoga, add pilates or foundational training, surf at Playa Guiones, play on the red clay tennis courts, book a massage or restorative treatment, eat fresh locally inspired food and leave space for the simple pleasure of doing nothing.

And then there is the ocean. Playa Guiones remains at the heart of the Nosara experience. Whether you have never stood on a surfboard or have been surfing for decades, our concierge can arrange instruction and experiences appropriate to your level. There is something transformative about beginning the day in the Pacific, returning to Jade for breakfast, and realizing the day has barely begun.

Our connection to the land is also expanding beyond Guiones through Finca Jade, our evolving rewilding and regenerative land project outside Nosara.
Finca Jade represents the next chapter of our belief that hospitality can connect people more deeply to place.
The long-term vision brings together rewilding, syntropic farming, food forests, orchards, an apothecary garden, sculpture, artist residencies, trails, wellness and outdoor experiences while restoring a former cattle property and creating habitat for wildlife. Over time, Finca Jade will allow guests and visiting artists to experience another side of Guanacaste—one rooted in soil, water, food, conservation and creativity.
