Restoring Nature's Beauty: Costas Verdes

Costas Verdes has planted over 70,000 trees, reintroduced more than 50 native species & created native tree nurseries.

For Father’s Day - we organized a morning with Costas Verde to enjoy time with our family. We all planted a tree and learned about native trees and the importance of protecting the coast line. I have been coming to Nosara for 20 years. I remember what the coast looked like and am so happy to be part of what it is and is becoming. No words to describe the impact this organization has made.

Nosara is a haven for surfers, yoga enthusiasts, and eco-conscious adventurers. Costas Verdes mission is to restore and preserve the beauty of the region's beaches through extensive tree planting efforts. Since 2009, Costas Verde has worked with 30 local schools, over 9,000 volunteers and 50 local businesses across eight reforestation projects in Playa Hermosa, Jaco, Playa Guiones, Camaronal, Playa Barrigona, Herradura, and Esterillos.

Guiones Beach, Costa Rica

The Guardians of Costa Rica's Coastline: Costas Verdes, meaning "Green Coasts," is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and restoration of Costa Rica's beaches. Since its inception in 2009, the organization has been at the forefront of efforts to combat erosion, protect coastal habitats, and foster community engagement in environmental conservation. By harnessing the power of tree planting, Costas Verdes aims to create a natural defense against erosion while nurturing a diverse ecosystem that supports local flora and fauna.

"Planting trees along the beaches of Guiones, Costa Rica, is not just about restoring nature's beauty; it's a commitment to safeguarding our coastal treasures and nurturing a sustainable future for all."

The act of planting trees along the coastline carries profound benefits for both the environment and local communities. Trees act as natural barriers against erosion, safeguarding the fragile shoreline from the erosive forces of wind and water. Additionally, the restoration of coastal habitats creates a haven for diverse plant and animal species, fostering biodiversity and promoting the overall health of the ecosystem. Moreover, this endeavor is a catalyst for community engagement, raising awareness and inspiring others to take an active role in preserving the natural wonders. Whether you’re in Nosara for a few days, a few months or forever, Costas Verdes is always in need of volunteers to planet trees.
